Shoulder

The shoulder is a ball-and-socket joint incorporating the upper arm bone, shoulder blade and collarbone. We treat a wide range of conditions including shoulder instability, dislocated shoulder, tendon tears, frozen shoulder, and shoulder wear (arthrosis). In the worst case, the shoulder can be wrenched out of its socket, e.g. as the result of an accident or if the capsule surrounding the shoulder joint is stretched or torn. This can happen when playing overhead sports such as volleyball and tennis. There are a number of treatment options.

CONDITIONS

  • Rotator Cuff Tear.
  • Shoulder Impingement.
  • Shoulder Instability.
  • Frozen Shoulder.
  • Shoulder Dislocation.
  • Labral Injury.

TREATMENt OPTIONS

During an initial examination, the surgeon and physiotherapist will discuss your symptoms, your medical history and which types of investigation (X-ray, MRI, or CT scans) should be used to diagnose your condition. Then a decision will be made, together with you, about optimal therapy. Treatment options include:

  • Shoulder Arthroscopy.
  • Open Shoulder Decompression.
  • Labral Repair.
  • Bankart Repair.
  • SLAP Lesion Repair.

We apply the very latest techniques, including arthroscopy – a minimally invasive procedure that can be used to treat many conditions by inserting a fiber-optic device and tiny surgical instruments into small incisions. This results in less tissue damage, faster recovery times and less scarring. Arthroscopy can be used to treat rotator cuff tears, labral tears, impingement, biceps tendonitis, and joint arthritis.
